Vivo is the first smartphone maker to hit the market with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 device, the Vivo X90 Pro+

The world's first smartphone with the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC will be the Vivo X90 Pro+. While the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC will power most flagship Android phones to be launched in 2023, Vivo beats everyone else and comes out before the new year when the smartphone launches in China in early December this year.

Looking at the specs available from online sources, we see that the Vivo X90 Pro+ gets a 6.78-inch, 3200×1440 OLED display, with support for 120HZ refresh rate, the device will get up to 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage and a 4,700mAh battery with support for an 80W fast charger, and a rare signature of Qualcomm's oversized 3D Sonic Max fingerprint sensor . We also get 50W wireless charging.

The cameras are pretty big too, with Sony's 1-inch IMX989 sensor leading the way, along with a 50MP portrait camera, 48MP ultrawide and 64MP 3.5x telephoto camera. The cameras were co-developed with Zeiss and seem pretty solid. In fact, Vivo is so confident with this smartphone's cameras, especially about this 1-inch Sony sensor, that Vivo calls it the "King of One Inch Sensors". Although the Vivo X90 Pro+ is not the first to release the Sony IMX989 sensor, Vivo has equipped it with several improvements that make it special.

Vivo's suite of software features such as horizon correction, lens flare portrait mode, astrophotography mode and 100x hybrid zoom further complement the camera setup. The phone can also record 8K video at 30fps, with support for Dolby Vision and LOG10. The company has equipped the phone with its FAI V2 for image processing. It has 45MB of SRAM and delivers 16TOPS per watt of performance.

When it comes to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and what it enables, users will benefit from UFS 4.0 storage, a new, faster flash storage standard that can reach read speeds of 4,200MB/s and data transfer speeds. 2,800MB/s write. We can also expect to see support for Wi-Fi 7. However, we're not sure if the Vivo X90 Pro+ gets all the latest bells and whistles from the new SoC.
