Venom: Let There Be Carnage Gets Monster New Posters, Confirming October Release

Venom: Let There Be Carnage may have been pushed back to an October release, but Sony took the opportunity to release two new movie posters to definitively confirm the new October 15 date for the Spider-Man spin-off. The posters give a personal glimpse into the brutal battle that is about to begin onscreen between the pair of symbiotes, Tom Hardy's Venom and Woody Harrelson's Carnage. The latest round of promotional material comes on the back of the new trailer which arrived earlier this month just before the film's release date was delayed again.

Filming ended on the film in February 2020 with the original release slated for October 2020. Due to the Covid pandemic, the film was postponed for a September 2021 release, but even that didn't hold up because This month it was moved again due to the increase in the number of Delta Variant cases, making movie studios nervous about releasing their biggest deals.

Director Andy Serkis previously spoke about bringing the characters to life in an interview with IGN. He said, "" This character was so much fun working in the design and taking [from] the comedic world. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to take on this character that has never been seen on screen before, as much as you get to know him in our story and really play with the physique, how he moves, how it extrudes its tentacles. In the same way that Cletus is psychologically and physically manipulative, he can take your energy and completely change it for you. So we wanted the whole style of movement to be very idiosyncratic, quirky, and weird, and you just can't pin it down. It would be like trying to fight an octopus, basically. "

Venom: Let There Be Carnage picks up the post-credit threads from the 2018 film that brought Tom Hardy to the Sony Marvel Universe, and is partly rumored to set up a much larger villainous verse that will include Spider- Man: Homecoming 's Vulture, played by Michael Keaton, and it is also expected that a crossover with the January release of Morbius will add to that expansion as well.

With so many superhero franchises developing beyond just a movie / character experience, Sony is keen to emulate the Disney Marvel Universe with its rather more limited lineup of characters such as Venom, and there is always a strong belief that at some point, after Tom Holland's Spider-Man is done in the MCU , there will be a full crossover of properties, which is great news for fans, but it really looks like a another huge headache for legal teams.

Venom grossed $ 850 million worldwide when it was released, which set a short-lived record for the biggest box office release in history in October - Joker snatched that crown the following year. While under usual circumstances the return to October would likely mean that Venom would have a chance to reclaim its title, but for now Sony will likely take whatever they can get when moviegoers can finally see the symbiote on the big screen again.
